Belkin Portable XM Listening Device
Belkin announced at the Consumer Electronic Show 2006 that they are jumping into the XM receiver market. Belkin is known for making a very wide variety of accessories for a very wide amount of electronic devices.

The first XM device transforms an XM radio into a portable device. It comes with antenna headphones(with on-cord volume control) for better reception, a sleeve that includes a belt clip and a rechargeable battery pack to feed you your tunes.

Belkin Boombox XM Listening device
The second XM device they’re rolling out is a boombox. The boombox fits Delphi Roady XT receivers and Audiovox XPress receivers and houses them in a water-resistant case. The boombox runs on 8 C batteries or an AC adapter that is included.

Both the portable device and boombox are set to retail for $99.99 each.

XM Delphi Roady2
CNET has this Delphi XM Roady2 review. The editor gives it a 7 out of 10 rating which means it was “very good.” Forty-one users rate it as a 7.8 out of 10, which also means “very good.”

The small Delphi XM Roady2 receiver comes in at just 2.4 inches high, 3.9 inches wide and 0.7 inches deep and weighs just 3.4 ounces. The Roady2 comes complete with everything you need to start using it in your car.

The normal satellite radio options are found on the Delphi Roady2: ability to save 30 favorite channels, when a song is playing you can save it to either a 20-song memory or a 20-song Tune Select list which allows you to be notified when the song is on again, you can also track up to 20 stocks if you know their ticker symbols.

The Roady2 comes with seven backlit color displays and three colored faceplates. A built in FM modulator lets you send the signal to one of 12 unused FM frequencies, so you can play music using the speakers connected to your radio.

This model is now under $50 and is a great starter receiver for anyone wanting to get into satellite radio on a small budget.

Sony DRN-XM01C XM Satellite Radio Review at CNET

XM Sony DRN-XM01C Satellite Radio
CNET delivers this review of the Sony DRN-XM01C Satellite Radio Receiver. The editor gives it a rating of 6 out of 10, which equals “good.”

This device suffers from poor controls(limited in function and awkard) and poor satellite reception unless there is a view of the clear sky in sight.

This is one of the first XM satellite radios, which is quite evident as the review is from 1/30/02, nearly 4 years ago. It’s not a terrible deal if you can find one cheap on eBay, however better options are available.

XM Roady XT Review at Crutchfield

Review Roady XM XT
Crutchfield has this Delphi XM Roady XT Review. Made by Delphi, this review of the Roady XM XT model comes with a “quite impressive” tag from the editor. Four users also gave it a 5 star rating.

This is probably the best Delphi satellite radio and the best news is it comes with a very affordable price tag(as low as $50 after a $30 mail in rebate.)

The reviewer likes the easy to use controls, decent sound quality(in-line with other satellite radios) and easy to read display. All in all this Roady XT Delphi xm satellite radio is one of the best buys available.

Delphi XM SkyFi Radio Review at CNET

Posted under XM Satellite Reviews on Sunday 1 January 2006

XM Delphi SkyFi
CNET comes through today with their Delphi XM SkyFi Radio Review. The editor gives it an average rating with a 5.6 out of 10. However, the average of 71 user reviews is a 7.9, so take that for what it’s worth.

The editor noted some minor design flaws, he didn’t like where the power button was located(towards the bottom right) and also that after some use the SkyFi heats up and feels warm.

No difficulties were reported while using this Delphi XM SkyFi with the XM satellite radio service and they said the sound quality was comparable to FM radio.

Not sure why the editor gave it such an average rating when he really had no complaints. Possibly the user rating of 7.9 out of 10 is more realistic.
